Fort Selden

fortselden.jpg

Fort Selden was established to protect local settlers and prospectors from bandits and Indians. It was in operation most of the time between 1865 and 1890. When it was deactivated in 1890, they removed the roofs, doors and windows. This left the adobe walls unprotected. Subsequently, the walls have worn down over the decades. El Camino Real came through this spot before the fort was established. - Fort Selden -
