The Lolo Trail leads from the Bitterroot Valley in Montana to the Lolo Pass in Montana. It roughly follows Lolo Creek. It then continues west into Montana mostly along the Lochsa River. American Indians have been using it for centuries. Lewis and Clark (with a American Indian guide) used in both their westbound and eastbound travels. Modern US Highway 12 roughly follows the old trail. The Forest and rocky areas made follwoing the creek exactly extremely difficult. - Lolo Trail -
