Fort Robinson was originally an Army outpost on the Red Cloud Indian Agency in northwestern Nebraska. It functioned from 1874 to jyst after World War Two. It played a very important part in the Indian Wars from 1874 to 1890.Two significant historical events happened during that period. Crazy Horse was killed here in 1877. And in 1879, the "Cheyenne Breakout" took place, where Dull Knife and some of his Cheyenne followers, escaped custody. Fort Robinson is where the gently rolling sand hills give way to bluffs. - Fort Robinson State Park -
