The Anaconda Stack (or Washoe Stack as many locals call it) is one of the largest, free-standing brick strucktures in the world. It is 585 feet high. It is 75 feet across at the bottom, and 60 feet across at the top. That makes it 30 feet taller than the Washington Monument in the District of Columbia. In fact, the Washington Monument could literally fit completely inside the Stack without touching the sides. It took over two million extra large bricks to make. That is the equivalent of over six m illion regular bricks. Ehen the smelting operations ended in 1980, locals convinced the Anaconda company to leave the stack intact. - Anaconda (Washoe) Stack -
