pawnee Rock was about halfway on the Santa Fe Trail. It served as a rallying point for the Kiowa. It was also a lookout point. At one point it was believed to be 100 above the surrounding terrain. After the railroads used it as a source for their track beds, it is now only 50 feet higher. Lots of people have carved their initials in the rocks here. The small community here is also called Pawnee Rock. - Pawnee Rock -
